EASY CHERRY OR PEACH COBBLER 
1 stick butter
1 (20 oz.) can sweet cherries or cling peaches in heavy syrup (use pitted cherries)
1 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
Dash salt
3/4 c. milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt butter in 8 x 11 pan on top of stove. In mixing bowl combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar (put 1/4 cup sugar to side for later), baking powder, salt and milk. Pour flour mixture into pan, over butter. Take a spoon and spread the flour mixture evenly in pan. Add cherries (or peaches) including the juice; spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining sugar over the top and put in oven. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.

Serves 6 to 8.
