FRUIT COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
2 c. brown sugar
5 c. all-purpose flour
3 c. white sugar
8 eggs
1 tbsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
3 boxes white raisins
1 lb. dates
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 lb. figs
1 lb. black walnuts

Cream butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs. After flour is sifted and measured, add nutmeg, soda, cinnamon, and cloves. Then add raisins, dates, figs, and walnuts. Mix with sugar, butter, and egg mixture. Drop by teaspoonful on baking sheet. Bake until brown in oven at 350 degrees.

You can substitute Christmas fruit (cut) instead of figs and dates. Batter will keep in refrigerator for 4 or more weeks. Yields: About 8 dozen medium sized fruit cookies.
