ORANGE CANDY SLICE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
1 (1 lb.) orange candy slices, halved
1 lb. chopped dates
2 c. mixed nuts, chopped
1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
1 sm. can frozen orange juice, thawed

Cream butter, and sugar. Add eggs one at a time; beating well. Add soda to buttermilk; add to mixture. Combine dry ingredients. Add orange slices, dates and nuts; blend. Line tube pan with greased brown paper. Pour mixture in pan. Bake at 275 degrees for 2 hours 30 minutes. Add brown sugar to orange juice. Let stand while cake bakes. Pour on cake while hot. Let cake cool before removing from pan.
