WHITE SAUCE FOR NOODLES 
1 onion, finely chopped
1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms
Diced ham
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 pt. whipping cream (have some regular milk handy too)
Cooked fettuccine noodles

Saute onions in butter until soft. Add the diced ham and heat until hot, about 5 minutes. Lower the temperature and pour in the cream. Let it thicken, stirring constantly, about 15 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste (the hams adds some salt so be careful). Add mushrooms before serving.

The sauce is very rich, so don't serve in large portions. This recipe serves 4 to 5 people. You can also add boiled broccoli for color, if you like.
