SALISBURY STEAK WITH ONION SAUCE
2 tbsp. salad oil
5 sm. onions, sliced
3 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Dash of garlic powder
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water

In salad oil in medium skillet over medium heat, cook onions 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 1 1/2 cups water, soy sauce, and sugar. Bring to boil. Cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until onions are tender. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup water, slowly stir into onions until sauce thickens. Set aside and keep warm.

In medium bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape into 4 or 5 patties. Fry or broil to desired doneness. Arrange patties on heated platter, then spoon on the onion sauce. Serve hot. Serves 4.
