GOOD - FOR - YOU BROWN BREAD 
2 c. unsifted whole wheat flour
1 c. yellow cornmeal
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. ripe bananas, mashed (3 med.)
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. molasses
3/4 c. raisins

In a large bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, salt and baking soda. Stir in bananas and remaining ingredients. Turn into 3 greased and floured 1-pound cans (or small loaf pans). Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn out of cans, slice and serve warm with butter.

(This bread rises to form an attractive peak. It freezes well and may also be served with cream cheese and jam or thin slices of ham.)
