CHRISTMAS BUTTER COOKIES
2 1/4 c. sifted Pillsbury's enriched flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. real butter
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour and baking powder. Cream butter; add sugar and mix well. Add eggs and vanilla and blend. Then add sifted dry ingredients gradually, mixing well. Chill thoroughly (at least four hours).

Roll out very thin on well floured pastry board or cloth and cut with flour-dusted cookie cutters. Place on lightly buttered baking sheet and bake in preheated (400 degree F.) oven for 6 to 8 minutes, until brown around edges. Remove to cake rack to cool and when cool decorate as desired.

DECORATING:

Use icing made with confectioners' sugar mixed with a very little milk. Divide icing. Color each portion differently. Apply with toothpicks.

Note: If cookies are to be decorated with colored sugar or decorettes, brush cookies before baking with unbeaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar or decorettes. If you use self-rising flour, omit baking powder.
