HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef or 1 pkg. two beef shanks
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped carrots
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped potatoes
6 c. boiling water
3 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
3 beef bouillon cubes
2 bay leaves
1 can tomatoes (2 1/2)

Brown meat. Simmer everything two hours. If using beef shank, cut up the meat at the end of the cooking time and put back in. Serve.
