SWEET-SOUR GREEN BEANS 
4 c. canned green beans
1 lg. onion, thinly sliced
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate (optional)
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. salad oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 c. sugar

Combine green beans and onion slices in a large bowl. Heat vinegar, water and sugar together until it boils, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat, add salad oil, pour over beans and onion. Season with salt, pepper and MSG. toss gently until well mixed. Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
