CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Candied cherries or pecan halves

Cream butter and cream cheese. Slowly add sugar, beating until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk. Add flour and vanilla; mix well. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Gently press a cherry or pecan half into each cookie. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12-15 minutes.
