QUICK BROWN BREAD 
1 c. unbleached whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. whole wheat flour
4 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. molasses
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 egg, beaten (or egg substitute)

Stir flour, baking soda, salt together. Blend brown sugar and flour into other mixture. Add butter and molasses, egg, and buttermilk. Beat well. Pour into loaf pans; stand 20 minutes. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Place on wire rack to cool. This makes fine rolls and muffins, too.
