DIVINITY FUDGE (OLD-TIME) 
2/3 c. water
2/3 c. molasses
3 c. white sugar
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
food coloring or nuts (optional)

Boil water, molasses and sugar over low heat until it hardens in cold water (270°F). Remove from heat.

Beat egg whites in a large bowl and pour the syrup slowly onto the egg whites, continuing to beat the misture until it begins to harden and hold its shape. Add vanilla, nuts and dates.

Spread quite thickly on a shallow buttered tin.

When cool, cut in squares. Add coloring and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto greased pan or wax paper.
