GRANDMA'S BANANA SPLIT CAKE 
2 1/4 c. vanilla wafers (ground up)
2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
5-6 ripe bananas
1 lg. container Cool Whip
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
3 eggs
1 can crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 c. chopped pecans (for top)
1 sm. bottle cherries (for top)

Grind up 2 1/4 cups wafer crumbs (save 1/4 cup for top). Sprinkle wafer crumbs in bottom of a greased rectangular pan. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Spread this mixture over vanilla wafer crumbs.

Spread drained crushed pineapple over this mixture. Slice and layer bananas over pineapple. Cover bananas with Cool Whip. Mix chopped nuts with 1/4 cup vanilla wafers crumbs and sprinkle over Cool Whip. Slice cherries in half and decorate top. Refrigerate.
