SALLY'S PUMPKIN OR CUSHAW BREAD 
2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. pumpkin or cushaw
2/3 c. water or orange juice
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. raisins
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, water and pumpkin or cushaw. Sift in dry ingredients. Stir in nuts and raisins. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Better if aged a day or two.

mmmm..mmmm delicious! I added 3/4 c. more squash and topped it with a crumbly topping. 1/2 c flour, 4 tbs butter, and 1 c brown sugar.
