2 c. sugar 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. white Karo syrup 2 tbsp. butter 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. pecan halves Combine all ingredients except pecans and vanilla in saucepan. Place over moderate heat, stirring gently until sugar dissolves. Cook so soft ball stage (238 degrees on candy thermometer). Remove from heat; add vanilla and beat until creamy and thickened. Quickly stir in pecans and drop from spoon onto wax paper. |
