GRANDMOTHER'S CORN BREAD 
1 c. yellow corn meal
1/2 c. white flour
1/4 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted shortening

Sift together the dry ingredients. Beat egg in measuring cup, fill with milk and pour into dry ingredients. Add melted shortening and mix thoroughly, by cutting batter back and forth. Pour into well greased pan. Bake at 375-400 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
