SWEET DILL PICKLES 
2 c. vinegar
1 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. alum

Slice cucumbers lengthwise as for sandwiches. Pack in jars with dill. Heat vinegar mixture to boiling and pour over cucumbers and seal.

Makes enough for 2 1/2 quarts of pickles.
