1 qt. dill pickles, cut into chunks

Drain into colander and put into bowl. Add:

1 1/2 c. sugar
Heaping tbsp. pickling spices
1 cinnamon stick is thick, or 2 thin
1 tsp. alum

Stir thoroughly and let set overnight. Stir occasionally. After sugar is dissolved put in jars.
