1 c. shortening
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted enriched flour
1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. grated orange peel
1 tsp. salt

Cream together shortening, sugar and cream cheese. Add eggs, orange peel and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together flour and salt; add to creamed mix, mixing well. Stir in chocolate bits. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan.
