PRUNE CAKE | |
1 c. Wesson oil 1 c. buttermilk 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs (one at a time) 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. salt 1 c. prunes (cooked and mashed) 1 c. chopped nuts Combine together; bake in 9 1/2 x 13 1/2 inch pan 30 minutes at 350 degrees. SAUCE FOR TOPPING: 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick) 1 tbsp. Karo syrup Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Cool to caramel consistency, then spread over cake. |
