PRUNE CAKE | |
1 c. cooking oil 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. allspice 1 c. buttermilk 1 c. cooked prunes 1 c. nuts (optional) TOPPING: 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. corn syrup 1/2 tsp. baking soda Blend oil and sugar, add eggs, add dry ingredients alternately with milk, add vanilla and milk. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. 15 minutes before cake is done start cooking the glaze. Mix all ingredients and cook 15 minutes. Pour over cake while warm. Let cool in pan. |
