PRUNE WHIP CAKE 
2 c. plain flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. prune juice
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. of each; nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice

Mix all dry ingredients; add shortening and 3/4 cup prune juice. Beat for 2 minutes. Add remaining prune juice, vanilla and eggs. Beat 2 minutes longer. Bake in 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

FROSTING:

2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. prune juice
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Place egg whites, brown sugar, white sugar, prune juice and salt in top of double boiler. Beat for 1 minute with mixer to blend. Beat constantly until frosting forms stiff peaks. Remove from boiling water. Add vanilla. Spread over cooled cake. Cake is best served the same day.
