FRUIT CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. unsifted flour (reserve 1/2 c. of this)
1 (14 oz.) box dates, chopped sm.
1 lb. orange slices, chopped sm.
2 c. nuts
1 c. flaked coconut

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time; creaming thoroughly after each one. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Add 3 1/2 cups flour alternately with buttermilk. Mix the 1/2 cup reserved flour with the candy, dates and nuts. Add to batter with coconut. Bake in greased Angel Food cake pan. Bake at 250 degrees 3 hours.

GLAZE:

1 c. frozen orange juice concentrate
1 c. powdered sugar

Mix these and pour over cake as soon as it comes from the oven. Let stand overnight; 2 or 3 days are better.
