SCOTCH TOFFEE BARS 
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal
2 pkg. chocolate chips
(Nut or coconut)

Beat sugar, shortening, vanilla, salt, and eggs. Add flour and rolled oats. Bake for about 15 minutes in 350 degree oven (flat greased cookie sheet). Melt chocolate chips and pour over baked layer. Spread in 1/2 with nuts, other half with coconut.

Keep chocolate soft, add 2 tablespoons butter and 1/3 cup cream.
