MAPLE NUT CAKE 
2 1/4 c. cake flour
3/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. salad oil
5 egg yolks
3/4 c. cold water
2 tsp. maple flavoring
1 c. egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. nuts

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in brown sugar. Make a well. In this order add: oil, egg yolks, water and flavoring. Beat well.

Combine egg white and cream of tartar, beat until stiff peaks. Fold into batter, then fold in nuts. Bake in ungreased 10 inch tube pan in 325 degree oven for 55 minutes. When cool, invert pan and turn out on plate. Frost with Golden Butter frosting.

GOLDEN BUTTER FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter (oleo)
4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. cream
1 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring

Melt butter. Brown it and beat in rest of ingredients. Frost Maple Nut Cake.
