1 box devil's food cake mix
1 c. melted butter
1 lg. can cherry pie filling
1 sm. tub Cool Whip
Chocolate or hot fudge ice cream topping, if desired

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease or spray 9x13 inch pan.

In large bowl, mix cake mix and melted butter together. Batter will be very thick. Spread batter in greased pan and form a shell, patting batter on bottom of pan and up on sides of pan. Bake for 11-13 minutes, until mix has set and sides pull away from pan.

Cool for at least 15 minutes. Add cherry pie filling to shell, spread evenly. Cover with Cool Whip, then drizzle chocolate over Cool Whip, if desired.

NOTE: You can also fill the shell with softened ice cream, pudding or other pie fillings. Yellow and chocolate cake mixes taste great also!
