APPLE BARS 
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 to 3 tbsp. cream
1 (20 oz.) can apple pie filling
1/2 c. quick cooking oats
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter

Cut shortening and 1/3 cup butter into flour and salt until fine crumbs like pie crust. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture. To the remainder add cream gradually while stirring lightly with a fork. Form into a square and roll flat to fit a 9x13 inch or large jelly roll pan ungreased. Bake 400 degrees, 15 minutes.

Spread pie filling on crust. Mix oats, brown sugar and 2 tablespoons butter with reserved 1 cup crumbs. Sprinkle over apples. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle lemon glaze over top while still warm.

LEMON GLAZE:

1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. powdered sugar

Combine and drizzle over warm bars.
