OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. Quaker oats
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Pour water over oats; cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter until creamy; gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla, and egg. Add oats mixture. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture, mix well. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Do not remove from cake pan.

FROSTING:

1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3 tbsp. half and half
1/3 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. coconut

Combine all ingredients. Spread evenly over cake. Boil until frosting becomes bubbly.
