APPLE TART CAKE
DOUGH:

3 sticks butter, softened
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar

FILLING:

6-8 apples, Pippins or Granny Smith are especially good

Blend by hand the butter, flour and sugar until smooth and well mixed. Take about 2/3 of this dough and press it onto the sides and bottom of a large pie pan.

Peel, core and chop the apples. Place them into the pan. Then sprinkle the apples with sugar and cinnamon, a few teaspoons of each. Crumble the rest of the dough and cover the top of the apples or you can roll out the rest of the dough and spread it lattice style over the apples. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour.
