3 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

Mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir soda into buttermilk, then work into dry ingredients and mix. Turn out on floured board and roll out and cut biscuits with a small biscuit cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet.

I put a dab of Crisco on top of each biscuit and bake in a 400 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until light brown.
