1 2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. bananas, mashed
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. buttermilk
2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. nuts, chopped (optional)

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add mashed bananas and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Put in 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. powdered sugar

Cream together.
