GRANDMA & CRYSTALS OREO COOKIES 
COOKIE:

1 pkg. devils food cake mix
1/2 c. powdered chocolate
Beverage mix (Nestles Quick)
2 eggs
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. water

FILLING:

1 env. unflavored gelatin
1/4 c. cold water
1 lb. & 1 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. white vegetable shortening (Crisco)

Cookies: Blend cookie ingredients well. Shape into a ball. Let stand 20 minutes. Form dough into 1/2 inch balls. Place on greased cookie sheets, flatten each with smooth bottom of glass (greased once and dipped into chocolate beverage mix each time). Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove cookies at once flatten with back of spatula (cool 20 minutes). Makes about 100 chocolate cookies.

Filling: Place gelatin into heat proof cup. Add cold water. Stir well. Put in pan of hot water until mixture clears and gelatin softens. Beat shortening until fluffy. Add sugar, beat 10 minutes. Add vanilla and cooled gelatin mixture. Spread 1 tablespoon filling between 2 cookies. Press chill.
