JAN HAGEL COOKIES | |
1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. butter 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg, separated 2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. baking soda Almond slices; optional Cream the butter, butter and sugar together, then beat in the egg yolk. Sift the flour, cinnamon and soda together and add to the first mixture. If the dough is too thick add a few drops of water. Roll the dough out on a greased cookie sheet. This cookie is best when rolled very thin. Place the dough in the middle of the cookie sheet, flatten. Place a sheet of waxed paper over the dough and roll very thin with a rolling pin. Remove the papers brush the dough with the slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with almonds. Press the almonds down an bake in a 325 degree oven for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cut immediately into bars and remove from cookie sheet. Repeat with other half of dough. |
