ICYCLE SWEET PICKLES 
1 peck fresh cucumber, about 2 gal. after sliced
3 c. lime
1 1/2 gal. water
3 qt. vinegar
14 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. salt
1 box pickling spice (1 1/2 oz.)

Slice cucumber cross ways, very thin. Soak in lime mixture 3 cups lime to 1 1/2 gallons water, overnight. Rinse 4 times. Soak in very cold water 2 hours. Change water once during this time.

Mix vinegar, sugar, salt and spice; pour over cucumbers. Bring to boil. Turn fire as low as possible and let simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Do not simmer hard. Just so mixture stays hot during this period. Place into sterilized jars. Seal. When packing, handle carefully as these pickles are very crisp.
