HOMEMADE BREAD | |
6 c. lukewarm water 6 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. Crisco 2 tbsp. salt 1 cake yeast 4 qts. flour (16 c.) Combine ingredients and knead dough until it doesn't stick to fingers (some extra flour may be needed). Cover and put in warm place. (I use my oven with the light on) let rise 1/2 hour. Work down and let raise for 1 hour more. Work down again and mold into 5 loaves. Place into greased loaf pans and let rise for 1 1/2 hours more. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until it sounds hollow when you knock on it. When done, dump out onto waxed paper and rub with butter. Cover with waxed paper and damp paper towels. Store in plastic bags. Enjoy! |
