1 c. water with food coloring in it
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 tbsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tbsp. vegetable oil

Cook all ingredients together in large pan over medium heat. Will thicken - cook thoroughly. Continue stirring as it cooks until it is like thick mashed potatoes. Cool for 5-10 minutes, then knead. After kneading for a few minutes it will become "play dough" like. Store in airtight container or plastic bag at room temperature.
