1 c. sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/2 stick butter
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/4 c. crunchy peanut butter
1 1/4 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts (if desired)

Combine sugar, milk, butter and cocoa. Bring to a full rolling boil; boil 1 minute (start timing only after it reaches a rolling boil). Remove from heat.

Quickly add peanut butter, oatmeal, vanilla and nuts. Beat until mixture begins to holds its shape. Drop by teaspoonfuls on wax paper.
