SPICY JERKY | |
I have never tried this in an oven, just a dehydrator. The lemon makes the heat stand out and the sugar and honey make it sweet to the point it has good flavor with a reasonable burst of heat. This wasn't a homemade recipe. I looked for tasty spicy recipes but I didn't find any I love so I combined them to make one I loved. 2 lb. beef of choice, cut into thin strips SAUCE: 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce 4 tsp. ground red pepper 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 cup soy sauce 5-7 drops liquid smoke 4 tsp. Louisiana hot sauce 4 tsp. honey (warm up to mix easier) 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. lemon zest 2 tsp. lemon juice Mix all sauce ingredients in a a sealable container. When everything has been mixed add meat 1 strip at a time and not in rows. Shake to mix and let rest in refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours shaking hourly to ensue even coating of sauce. Note: There won't be enough liquid to cover the meat, this is fine, that's why we shake. After set for 8 to 12 hours place in a dehydrator for 4 hours. Submitted by: Cookie Master |
