OATMEAL REFRIGERATED COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick-cooking rolled oats

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream together shortening, add sugars gradually; beat until light. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and creamed mixture, blend thoroughly, add oats. Shape dough into rolls 2 inches across. Cut into thin slices, bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot oven (400 degrees) 6 to 8 minutes. Makes 6 dozen.
