OATMEAL ICE BOX COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. lard or Crisco
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 well beaten eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
3 c. quick oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup lard. Add 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar. Cream until smooth. Blend in 2 well beaten eggs.

Sift soda, salt and 1 1/2 cup flour. Add to creamed mixture.

Add oatmeal and vanilla. Blend until soft dough and work into a long roll.

Refrigerate overnight, slice and bake on ungreased cookie pan at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
