MAPLE WALNUT SQUARES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. maple syrup
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. chopped walnuts

Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press mixture into greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake in 350 degree oven 15 minutes.

Combine 2/3 cup brown sugar and syrup in a saucepan; simmer 5 minutes. Slowly pour over eggs, beating constantly. Stir in vanilla, 2 tablespoons flour and salt; mix thoroughly. Pour over baked crust. Sprinkle walnuts on top.

Bake in 350 degree oven 20-25 minutes or until topping is set. Cool in pan on rack. Cut in 1 3/4 inch squares. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
