BAKED APPLES IN SAUCE 
6 lg. tart apples
4 tbsp. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. boiling water

Pare and core apples. Cut in halves and place in a buttered dish. Mix flour, sugar, butter, salt and nutmeg. Stir in the boiling water slowly. Mix well and pour over the apples. Bake at 325 degrees until tender, about 40 minutes. Add coloring if desired.
