BURGUNDY BEANS
Use inexpensive burgundy wine. Expensive wine does not work well!

1 large onion, chopped
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck (optional)
1 large can pork and beans, undrained
1 can baked beans, undrained
1 can garbanzo beans, undrained
1 can kidney beans, undrained
1 can (or 1 frozen pkg.) lima beans, drained
1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces, drained
3/4 cup ketchup
garlic powder, to taste
2 to 3 cups "cheap" burgundy wine

Sauté onion in butter; add ground chuck, if desired; brown. Mix together with all beans. Add ketchup and large sprinkling of garlic. Add wine. Mix well and place in bean pot or casserole dish and bake for about 3 hours at 300°F.

Let stand a few minutes before serving. Freezes well.

I'm very surprised to find this recipe. My mother made this but she added chili powder, canned tomatoes and bell peppers. I purchased the burgundy wine this evening just so I could make this. A sincere thank you to whomever posted.
