CHEWY OATMEAL RAISIN BARS 
1/4 lb. butter
1 c. light brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. uncooked oats (quick cooking)
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. raisins

In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in flour, egg, vanilla, baking soda and salt. Stir in oats, walnuts and raisins until well mixed. Mixture will be very stiff. Turn mixture into greased 9 inch square baking pan. Spread evenly. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven uncovered for 12 minutes. Cool in pan. Makes 24 squares.
