QUICK MACARONI-HAMBURGER
CASSEROLE
 
1 lb. chopped lean beef
3 c. cooked macaroni
4 tbsp. butter
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, mashed
1 green pepper, chopped
1 can condensed Tomato soup
1/2 can water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. sweet basil
1/2 tsp. minced parsley
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. catsup or tomato paste
2 tsp. Agostura bitters
1 c. coarsely grated American or Cheddar cheese, firmly packed

Melt in heavy skillet and saute onion, garlic, and green pepper. As soon as they begin to color, add meat and continue to cook until brown, stirring frequently. Mix soup and water and add to skillet with seasonings and herbs. In a greased 2 quart casserole put half the macaroni, half the meat mixture, and a layer of cheese. Reserve 2 tablespoons of cheese for the top and use remainder for this layer. Repeat layers, top with cheese, cover, and bake at 375 degree for 35 minutes. Remove cover and bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes or until top is browned. Serves 4 to 6.
