1 pkg. devils food cake mix
3/4 c. melted butter
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1/2 to 1 c. pecans or walnuts (optional)
1 c. chocolate chips
1 lb. Kraft caramels

Mix 1 package devils food cake mix, 3/4 cup melted butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and 1/2 to 1 cup pecans or walnuts (optional). Place half of cake mixture in 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.

Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips over the top. Bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees.

Combine in double boiler 1 pound Kraft caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Place remaining half of cake mix in dabs over the caramel mixture. Bake 18 minutes more at 350 degrees. (Reduce heat to 325 degrees for glass pan.)
