GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 (4 oz.) bar German chocolate
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks, unbeaten
4 egg whites, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

Melt chocolate in boiling water. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and chocolate and vanilla. Add flour, salt, and soda alternately with buttermilk. Fold in egg whites. Bake in 3 layers, 350 degrees, 30-40 minutes.

COCONUT PECAN ICING:

1 c. evaporated milk
1 c. sugar
3 yolks
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook until thick. Add 1 1/3 cups coconut and 1 cup pecans. Beat until thick.
