WATERMELON PUNCH 
1 lg. watermelon
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 (33.8 oz.) bottle ginger ale, chilled

Cut a thin slice from one end of melon, and slice top third from other end. Scoop pulp from melon, remove seeds and mash pulp. Measure 1 gallon of juice and set aside. Use a V-shaped knife or paring knife to make decorative cuts around edge of melon shell.

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Add to 1 gallon watermelon juice and chill. Just before serving, add ginger ale, stirring gently. Serve in watermelon shell. Yield: 5 1/4 quarts.
