PEANUT WHIRLS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chunky peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. milk
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Cream first 5 ingredients. Add sifted ingredients alternately with milk. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick.

Melt chocolate chips and cool slightly. Spread on dough. Roll up and chill at least 1 hour. Cut in slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 8 minutes at 350 degrees.
