PEANUT BRITTLE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. Karo (white)
1 lb. unroasted peanuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter

Combine sugar and syrup in big iron skillet. Stir with wooden spoon over medium heat until dissolved. Add peanuts and salt. Stir constantly until mixture is amber on side of skillet. Add butter and blend. Turn off heat and add soda and stir in vigorously. Turn immediately onto 2 well greased and warmed cookie sheets. Warm cookie sheets in oven. Spread a bit and leave in oven a couple minutes until it runs to edges. Cool thoroughly, then crack into pieces.
